= HOW TO USE HUNTER 5.1 =

Type HUNTER to start the program.
INSTALLATION
Install HUNTER.EXE and HUNTER2.COM in the root
directory of your hard drive, and you will
never be at a loss for words again!
At the A:> prompt type INSTALLC
PROGRAM MESSAGES
1. Search for (f)ile Name or (C)ontents?
If you remember the file name or part of it, enter F
If you only remember a word, phrase or number
within the file enter C, or just press enter.
(C is the Default).
2. Enter full file name as NAME.EXE or NAME.*
You have entered F in response to the first question.
Now enter the file name. Say you are looking for
a file called MISSING.TXT. You could enter
MISSING.TXT
A:MISSING.TXT
C:MISSING.TXT
MISSING.*
*.TXT or any other DOS combination
of wildcards and character replacements
HUNTER will now list every directory (and sub-directory)
containing a matching File Name in under one minute!
3. If you responded C in response to the first question
you will see this message:
" The space bar is often useful to delimit a word.
For example, if you just enter the word AND,
you will also find the word COMMAND.
To only find the word you want,
Press the space bar once before and after
you spell the word, and then press Enter."
Word, phrase or number to find:
Enter the word, phrase or number you think is
in the document you are searching for. Don't
worry about upper or lower case letters,
HUNTER is not case sensitive, and will find
the word anyway - just be sure to spell it right.
4. F searches text files only,
S searches all files
Enter Fast or Slow F/s:
If you are looking for a ASCII File like those
produced by most word-processors, enter F,
or just press enter (F is the Default).
If your file is not found, you can try
again with S later. S searches thru every file
on the drive and might take five minutes or more
for a very large drive.
5. Selected Drive (C:) or Path (C:\DOS) or Press Enter:
If you know what directory your file is in,
enter it here (\MYDIR) else press enter to search
the default drive (The drive where the program
resides.) Or enter the drive letter.
For example, if you are running HUNTER
from a floppy in A: and want to search your
Hard Drive, enter C:
This program may be freely copied, so long as the notice
at the start of the program is not removed, and that no changes are made to
the programs and all files remain on the disk.
You may charge a copying fee to distribute, but it should not
exceed $10.00. This program may be uploaded to BBSes, and distributed in
user groups.
